Violin

Anna Laverty is originally from LaGrange, KY, where she began studying violin as a Suzuki student at six years old with Neal Green. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Louisville School of Music, studying violin with Dr. Geoffrey Herd and completing Suzuki teacher training with Kirsten Marshall. During her time at UofL, she served as President of the American String Teachers Association and helped lead the chapter to receive the Most Outstanding Student Chapter Award at the 2024 national ASTA conference.

She completed her Master of Music degree in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy at The Hartt School, where she studied under Gary Capozziello and Teri Einfeldt. During her graduate studies, Anna taught at the Ridgefield Suzuki School and worked as Ensemble Manager for the Hartt Community Division Suzuki Orchestras.

She is excited to join the faculty of the Franklin Suzuki Academy and continue sharing her love of the Suzuki Philosophy.
